The UAE Ministry of finance recently announced their plan to phase out the eDirham cashless payment system across all Government agencies in the coming weeks. Agencies such as the Ministry of Finance and Dubai Trade have already ceased their acceptance of eDirham and other agencies such as The Ministry of Education and Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) will follow suit starting October 10 and October 31 respectively.
So What Now?
The Ministry of Finance explains the phase out as a response to customers’ suggestions and requirements for flexibility, ease and efficiency. Customers who were previously using eDirham can now pay for their governmental services with e-payment options.
